SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Timer consists of two general-purpose timers. The second timer can be configured as a watchdog timer. The primary use of timers is to time long periods of time accurately, off-loading the processor of the task. This function is most useful for timeout periods, when the processor is busy performing essential tasks, or for internal performance monitoring. Two timers provide greatest flexibility, allowing small delay times to be programmed in one timer while the second is used for timeout functions, or to allow multiple concurrent tasks access to independent timers.
